January 2007 Burgess Hall Meeting Area Remodeled January 9-13 saw the remodeling of the center section of Burgess Hall. 14 different guys assisted with this middle-of-the-week project. Men from Wareham, South Weymouth, Rumford, Brockton and Lowell anchored the project. The entire center floor of Burgess hall was removed, including all the support structure beneath the floor. Vapor barrier was installed. A new floor, with new floor joists, was installed. This weekend, Stoner and another guy from Rockland Church will assist in the installation of new carpet for the building. Keene Church and Providence First Church have each donated $100 toward the materials for the project. We expect some other financial assistance to be forth-coming. Cost for the materials was slightly over $2,000. Two men from G.E.M. construction came up Tuesday night and worked through to completion on Thursday noon. The project was designed and directed by Tim Mather, who did a great job of keeping everyone moving in the right direction. Some of the wood was salvaged, the rest hauled away. Timing was critical to the project, since the building was rented on the following Friday. Dick Clifford, Facilities committee chairman, arrived with some of the men on Monday night. He was the main shaker and mover to enlist the volunteer workers. We fed the men from Tuesday through lunch Thursday. The project was a huge success, and we are grateful to Tim and Dick, and all those who contributed to the completion of this excellent project. |
